Freetress Soft Locs | Premium Crochet Locs Hair

★★★★★4.8· thousands of reviews

Our Freetress Soft Locs give you the authentic look of hand-twisted locs without the commitment or long installation time. Each pack features pre-looped, lightweight synthetic fibers designed to mimic the soft texture and natural movement of real locs.

We engineered Soft Locs with a matte finish that eliminates shine, so your style reads natural in any light. The fibers hold curl patterns beautifully and resist frizz through daily wear. Whether you want a bohemian goddess look or sleek protective styling, Soft Locs install in under two hours with a standard crochet needle.

Our proprietary fiber blend weighs significantly less than human hair locs, reducing tension on your scalp and edges. Each loc measures 18 inches in length with a medium diameter that works for most head sizes and style preferences. We include six packs per full-head installation for natural volume.

Fiber Technology & Construction

We manufacture Freetress Soft Locs using premium Kanekalon fiber that mimics the porosity and texture of natural 4C hair. The fiber undergoes a three-stage texturizing process that creates micro-coils within each strand, giving the locs their signature soft-to-touch feel.

Our matte coating process eliminates the plastic sheen common in lower-quality crochet hair. The coating bonds at the molecular level, so it won’t flake or wear off with washing. Each loc is pre-twisted in a uniform pattern that maintains integrity through multiple install cycles.

Installation & Styling Guidance

Installing Your Soft Locs

Start with freshly washed and conditioned natural hair braided in a cornrow base. We recommend medium-sized cornrows spaced evenly across your scalp for balanced weight distribution. Use a 3.5mm or 4mm crochet needle to loop each Soft Loc through the cornrow base.

Pull the loc halfway through the braid, then separate the two ends and twist them around the base to secure. No additional rubber bands or glue are needed—the pre-looped design holds itself in place. Work from the nape of your neck forward, installing 60-80 locs for a full, natural look.

Styling

Care Instructions & Longevity

Wash your Freetress Soft Locs every 7-10 days using a diluted sulfate-free shampoo in a spray bottle. Focus on your scalp and roots, allowing the cleanser to run down the length of the locs. Follow with a light leave-in conditioner spray to maintain softness.

We recommend wrapping your locs in a satin scarf or bonnet every night to preserve the texture and prevent frizz. Avoid cotton pillowcases, which create friction and cause the fiber to matt. If frizz develops, use a small amount of mousse and gently palm-roll the affected locs.

Lightest locs I've ever worn
I've tried every brand of crochet locs on the market, and these are hands-down the lightest. My neck doesn't hurt after a full day, and my edges are still intact after six weeks. The matte finish looks so natural that people ask if they're my real hair.

Installation was actually fast
I'm not great at crochet styles, but I got a full head of these in under two hours by myself. The pre-loop made everything so much easier. They didn't unravel or slip at all, even without me using any extra bands or glue.

Beautiful color match
I ordered color 30 to match my natural auburn tones, and it's perfect. No orange undertones like some brands. I did need seven packs instead of six because I wanted extra fullness, but that's just my preference.

Held up through vacation
Wore these to Jamaica and got them wet in the ocean multiple times. They dried fast and didn't get that weird mildew smell. The texture stayed soft and didn't get stiff or crunchy. I'm on week seven and they still look fresh.

Removed and reinstalled successfully
I carefully took these out after eight weeks and reinstalled them last weekend. They still look brand new. I probably got two more installs out of this same hair. Definitely worth the investment compared to buying new hair every time.

No scalp tension or headaches
I have a sensitive scalp and usually can't wear heavy styles for more than a few days. These are so light I forget I'm wearing them. No tension headaches, no sore spots where the braids are. My stylist was impressed with the quality too.

Your Freetress Soft Locs Questions Answered

We recommend six packs for standard fullness on most head sizes. If you prefer extra volume or have a larger head, purchase seven to eight packs.

Each pack contains enough locs to cover approximately one-sixth of your scalp when installed with medium-density spacing. Your final pack count also depends on your cornrow base—smaller, more numerous cornrows will require additional packs.

Yes, our water-resistant fibers handle swimming and exercise well. Rinse your locs with fresh water after swimming in chlorinated or salt water to prevent buildup.

After workouts, allow your scalp to air dry or use a hooded dryer on low heat. The fibers won't mildew if you dry them properly within 24 hours of getting wet. Apply a light oil spray to maintain softness after water exposure.

Soft Locs have a smooth, twisted texture that mimics freshly installed starter locs. Soft Faux Locs feature a distressed, wrapped appearance with visible texture and loose ends that look like mature locs.

Soft Locs install faster because they're simpler in construction. Soft Faux Locs take longer to install but provide a more bohemian, lived-in aesthetic. Both use the same lightweight fiber technology.

Our Soft Locs come with a built-in matte finish, so they shouldn't look shiny out of the package. If you notice any shine, it's usually from product buildup rather than the fiber itself.

Use water-based, non-greasy styling products and avoid heavy oils. If shine develops, spray the locs lightly with dry shampoo and gently blot with a microfiber towel. Never apply silicone-based serums or shine sprays to matte synthetic hair.

Yes, you can cut Soft Locs to your desired length after installation. Use sharp hair shears and cut straight across for a blunt finish, or cut at an angle for a tapered look.

Seal the cut ends by dipping them briefly in hot water (not boiling) to prevent unraveling. Let them cool for 30 seconds, then gently squeeze out excess water. This heat-sealing technique works because our fiber is heat-responsive up to 350°F.

We recommend wearing Soft Locs for six to eight weeks maximum. Beyond that timeframe, your natural hair growth can cause tension at the roots and make removal more difficult.

Watch for matting at the base of your cornrows as a sign it's time to take them down. If you maintain your scalp properly with regular cleansing and moisturizing, six weeks is the sweet spot for healthy hair retention underneath.

Yes, as long as your natural hair is at least two inches long, you can install Soft Locs. The crochet method doesn't require length—it needs enough hair to create a cornrow base that holds the crochet loop securely.

Shorter hair may show slightly more scalp between parts, so ask your stylist to create smaller, closer-together cornrows. This technique distributes the locs more densely and creates fuller coverage even with minimal natural hair length.
